Royal IHC Launches A Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger

- Jan 23, 2018 -

On January 11, the Dutch Royal IHC shipyard launched the 5450 m3 Multipurpose Harrow Suction Dredger (TSHD) "DC Orisant".

Built for the joint venture of Den Herder (Reimerswaal Dredging) and Group de Cloedt, the "DC Orisant" is scheduled to be delivered by mid-2018 and will operate in the dredging and offshore markets.

According to Reimerswaal Dredging, "DC Orisant" is a system-wide, trailing suction dredger that can handle a large number of projects. This is due to its high standard of integrated design and on-board dredging equipment. The structure of the dredging device will help the construction industry to excavate marine aggregates. The ship is also well suited for other projects such as maintenance dredging and man-made beach. In addition, thanks to the DP2 Dynamic Positioning System, the vessel will be able to support offshore wind farms. glenflange

The Royal IHC said the DC Orisant is the first complete diesel-electric integrated dredge on the market to sail at fastest speeds in all conditions.
